Curaçao has a fascinating Jewish history and also the oldest Synagogue in the Americas. An experienced guide will be with explaining to you each detail about the Jewish community on the island. You will be visiting historical places and you will have an opportunity to take pictures at each stop.
The first stop is the Bethi Haim Jewish cemetery which is one of the oldest of the Western hemisphere consecrated in the 17th century.
Then we will visit another historic site also created as a peaceful sanctuary, the plantation house “Rooi catootje” preserved as a museum nowadays and also the library Mongui Maduro.
The next stop is the liquor factory also owned by a Jewish family, guests will have a tour in the plantation house, learn more about the family name Senior and a free tasting of the local rum. After this we’ll drive through the old Jewish neighbourhood of Scharloo and the last stop of this excursion is the Mikveh Israel Emanuel synagogue, the oldest in constant use of the western hemisphere.
